Given :–

  • D₁ = 20m
  • T₁ = 3s
  • D₂ = 30m
  • T₂ = 4s

To Find :–

  • Average speed of the object.

Solution :–

First, we need to find the total distance.

So,

Total distance (D) = D₁ + D₂

⟹ 20m + 30m

⟹ 50m

Now, we need to find the total time taken.

So,

Total time taken (T) = T₁ + T₂

⟹ 3s + 4s

⟹ 7s

Now, we need to find the average speed of the object,

So,

Average speed =  \dfrac{Total \: Distance}{Total \: Time \: Taken}

 \dfrac{D}{T}

  • D = 50m
  • T = 7s

 \dfrac{50}{7}

⟹ 7.14286 m/s

Hence,

The average speed is 7.14286 m/s.

GivEn:-

  • An object travels 20m in 3 s

  • another it travel 30m in 4s

To find:-

  • average speed of the object?

SoluTion:-

☯ Here, we have to find average speed of the object.

\star\;{\underline{\boxed{\bf{\purple{Average\;Speed = \dfrac{Total\;Distance}{Total\;Time}}}}}}

GivEn that,

An object travels 20m in 3 s and the another 30m in 4s.

Therefore,

☯ Total distance travelled by Object = 20m + 30m = 50m

☯ Total time taken by Object = 3m + 4m = 7s

{\underline{\sf{\red{Now,\;Put\;the\;value\;in\;formula\;-}}}}

\dashrightarrow\sf \dfrac{Total\; Distance}{Total\;time}

\dashrightarrow\sf \dfrac{50}{7}

\dashrightarrow\bf \pink{7.14\;ms^{-1}}\;\bigstar

\sf\dag\; \underline{Hence,\; Average\;speed\;of\;the\;object\;is\;7.14\;ms^{-1}}

\rule{200}{4}

Additional Information:-

  • Speed is a scalar quantity.

  • Dimensional formula of speed is \sf \dfrac{[L]}{[T]} = LT^{-1}

  • Speed is rate of change of distance per unit time whereas, Velocity is rate of change of displacement per unit time.

  • Both speed and velocity are measured in \sf ms^{-1}
