Explanation:

Given that,

S1 = 18m

T1 = 4sec

S2 = 18m

T2 = 2sec

Average velocity = Total distance / Total Time

= 18 + 18 / 4 + 2

= 36 / 6 = 6m/sec.

Answer:

Let, The distance travelled by an object D1 = 30m

       Time taken by the object                 T1 = 7sec

So,  Speed of the object                         S1 = D1 / T1

                                                                  S1 = 30 / 7

                                                                  S1 = 4.286m/sec

       The distance travelled by an object D2 = 18m

       Time taken by the object                 T2 = 5sec

So, Speed of the object                            S2 = D2 / T2

                                                                   S2 = 18 / 5

                                                                   S2 = 3.6m/sec

Now, the average speed of the object    S = S1 + S2 / 2

                                                                   S = 4.286 + 3.6 / 2

                                                                   S = 7.886 / 2

                                                                   S = 3.943m/sec
