Answer:

12m/s

Explanation:

Total Distance =40m+80m

=120m

Total Time =5s+5s

=10s

Average Speed =Total Distance/Total Time

=120m/10s

=12m/s

Given:

  • The distances are 40 m and 80 m
  • The time taken is 5 secs and 5 secs

To Find:

  • The average speed of the object.

Solution:

The formula to find the average speed of the object is given by,

Average speed = Total distance/total time → {equation 1}

Where,

Total distance = 40 + 80 = 120 m

Total time = 5+5 = 10 secs

On substituting the values in equation 1 we get,

⇒ Average speed = 120/10 {dividng the terms}

⇒ Average speed = 12 m/s

∴ The average speed of the object = 12 m/s
