GIVEN :-

  • Distance 1 (d1) = 40 m
  • Time 1 (t1) = 5 seconds
  • Distance 2 (d2) = 80 m
  • Time 2 (t2) = 5 seconds

TO FIND :-

  • The Average speed.

SOLUTION :-

 \dag \:  \boxed{ \red{ \bf \: average \: \:  speed = \: \dfrac{ total \: distance}{total \: time} }} \\  \\  \mapsto \sf \dfrac{ \:d_{1} + d_{2}}{t_{1} + t_{2}} \\  \\  \mapsto \sf \:  \dfrac{80 + 40}{5 + 5}  \\  \\  \mapsto \sf \:   \cancel{\frac{120}{10} } \\  \\ \mapsto \underline{ \boxed{ \red{ \sf \: average \:  \: speed \:  = 12 \: ms ^{ - 1} }}}

Hence the Average speed is 12 m/s.

HENCE OPTION (III)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :-

Average speed :- The ratio of Total distance travelled by an object to the total time taken is known as average speed of the object.

 \dag \:  \boxed{ \red{ \bf \: average \: \:  speed = \: \dfrac{ total \: distance}{total \: time} }} \\  \\  \mapsto \sf \dfrac{ \:d_{1} + d_{2}}{t_{1} + t_{2}}

Velocity :- Velocity of an object is defined as the distance travelled by an object in unit time in a particular direction .

 \dag \:  \boxed{ \red{ \bf \: Velocity = \: \dfrac{ Displacement}{ time} }}

★ Given -

  • Distance 1 (D1) = 40m
  • Time 1 (T1) = 5sec
  • Distance 2 (D2) = 80m
  • Time (T2) = 5sec

To Find -

  • Average velocity of object

Solution -

We know Formula For Average Velocity,

✓  \: \frac{</strong><strong>T</strong><strong>otal \: </strong><strong>D</strong><strong>istance}{</strong><strong>T</strong><strong>otal \: </strong><strong>T</strong><strong>ime}

Applying Values,

⟶ \frac{(40 + 80)}{(5 + 5)}

⟶ \frac{120}{10}

⟶\frac{\cancel{120}}{\cancel{10}}

⟶12 {m</strong><strong>/</strong><strong>s}^{ - 1}

Average Velocity Of given Object is 12m/s-¹
