An object travels from point A to point D along the path shown in the figure . What is the distance and displacement of the object.

Step = As we know distance = total distance covered by the object

Distance of the object(Given in the question)[From point A to D] = 2 + 3 + 2

                                                                                                            = 7 cm

And,

We know that displacement of an object = the least distance from initial position to the final position

So, Displacement of the object(Given in the question) = 2 + 3 + 2

                                                                                          = 7 cm

Distance = Displacement

               = 7 cm

Because displacement of an object is the least distance from initial position to the final position so the least distance from initial position(A) to the final position(D) is 7 cm
