Distance between mirror and object is 20 cm. As per given condition, mirror moved 2 cm towards the object.

Therefore,

The distance between mirror and object is 20 - 2 i.e. 18 cm.

To find the distance between the positions of the original and final images seen in the mirror.

As mirror was moved, means it also moves 2 cm away from the original image.

Hence, the distance between the positions of the original and final images seen in the mirror is sum of distance between mirror & object and distance between mirror & image.

= 2 + 2 = 4 cm
