Given :

Reading of weight using physical balance =>  5.04 g , 5.

06 g , 4.97 g , 5.00 g and 4.93 g .

To find :

(a). mean value

(b). mean absolute  error

(c). percentage error

Solution :

(a). mean value = (  5.04 g + 5.

06 g + 4.97 g + 5.00 g + 4.93 g ) / 5

                         = 25.00 / 5 g

                         = 5.00 g

(b). mean absolute  error = ( | 5.00 - 5.04 | g + | 5.00 - 5.

06 | g + | 5.00 - 4.97 | g + | 5.00 -  5.00 | g + | 5.00 - 4.93 | g ) / 5

                                         = ( 0.04 g + 0.06 g + 0.03 g + 0 + 0.07 g) / 5

                                         = 2.00 / 5 g

                                         = 0.04 g

(c). percentage error = ( 0.04 / 5.00 ) * 100

                                   = 0.8 %

mean value = 5.00 g

mean absolute  error = 0.04 g

percentage error = 0.8 %
