Given :

An object weighs 36 g in air and has a volume of 8 cm cube .

To Find :

The apparent weight of the object when immersed in water .

Solution :

Density of object :

d=\dfrac{M}{V}\\\\d=\dfrac{36}{8}\ g/cm^3\\\\d=4.5\ g/cm^3

Now , the density of object is greater than density of water i.e 1\ g/cm^3 .

Therefore , whole object will sink in water .

Now , the volume displaced by object is 8\ cm^3 .

So , mass of water displaced is 8 g .

Therefore , apparent weight of the object when immersed in water is 36 - 8 gm = 28 gm .
