An oblong field 58 m long and 30 m wide has two cross roads one parallel to its length and the other parallel to its width. Find the area of the cross roads if each is 2 m wide.​

the 2 roads are rectangles,so

  1. area of road =area of 2 rectangles-2×2(a square in between whose area is common)

  • =l×b+L×B-4
  • =58×2+30×2-4
  • =116+60-4

=176-4

=172msq.
