8

Total number of possible outcomes = 8

Total number of sides with 6 = 1

P(Land on a 6) = 1/8

If you need the answer in percentage:

1/8 x 100 = 12.5%

Answer: The probability of landing on a 6 is 1/8 or 12.5%

Answer:

1/8

Step-by-step explanation:

At a carnival, Sanjay is told that if he spins the spinner below, he has a  probability of winning a prize. What does that mean? Is he likely to win, or unlikely? Does he only have 1 way to win out of 10?

We can think of the carnival game that Sanjay is playing as an experiment. There are 20 possible outcomes, or results of the experiment because the spinner could stop on any of the 20 numbers. To win, Sanjay needs to spin any multiple of 10 from 1 to 20. The outcomes for the event are called favorable outcomes.

Probability is a measure of how likely an event is to occur, expressed as a ratio. If all outcomes are equally likely, the probability (P) of the event is expressed as the following:

How many favorable outcomes are there for Sanjay? The only multiples of 10 from 1 to 20 are 10 and 20. So Sanjay has 2 favorable outcomes. We know there are 20 total outcomes for the spinner.

Sanjay has a 2/20 probability of winning, or a 2 out of 20 chance of winning. However, we can simplify the ratio by dividing the numerator and denominator by 2:

2/20 / 2/2 = 1/10

So, Sanjay does have a 1/10 probability of winning a prize. We would say that it is unlikely that he will win.

This is the explanation on how to find the answer but it's not the explanation for the question because you find the question using the steps from the above. This is the write explanation and it is valid because it's in my work showing me how to do it if it's wrong it's wrong.
