Given:

An office consists of a rhombus-shaped window of area 500 sq. cm, which has been decorated with rhombus-shaped glass pieces and each of its length of the diagonals is 10 cm and 5 cm.

To find:

The number of glass pieces required to cover the window

Solution:

The area of the rhombus-shaped window = 500 cm²

The dimensions of each rhombus-shaped glass pieces:

diagonal one, d₁ = 10 cm

diagonal two, d₂ = 5 cm

∴ The area of each rhombus-shaped glass pieces is,

= \frac{1}{2} \times d_1 \times d_2

= \frac{1}{2} \times 10 \times 5

= 5 \times 5

= 25 \:cm^2

Let "n" represents the no. of glass pieces required to cover the window.

Now,

Area of rhombus-shaped window = n × Area of each glass piece

500 = n \times 25

\implies n = \frac{500}{25}

\implies \bold{n = 20}

Thus, the number of glass pieces required to cover the rhombus-shaped window is → 20.
