this is a Shakespeare story, isn't it???
Answer: Lear, the aging king of Britain, decides to step down from the throne and divide his kingdom evenly among his three daughters. First, however, he puts his daughters through a test, asking each to tell him how much she loves him. Goneril and Regan, Lear’s older daughters, give their father flattering answers. But Cordelia, Lear’s youngest and favorite daughter, remains silent, saying that she has no words to describe how much she loves her father. Lear flies into a rage and disowns Cordelia. He had decided to divide his kingdom equally among his other 2 daughters. She and her two sisters never thought that their father would reach such a decision, pleaded their father for mercy and they didn't have the heart to see their youngest sister be torn apart from them. The disheartened daughter pleaded for help from her sisters who helped her by undermining the little authority that Lear still holds. Left with nothing, Lear slowly becomes insane and flees into the jungle to wander on a heath. He is unable to believe that his own daughters betrayed him.
