In a village lived an old man and his five sons. The sons were always quarrelling with each other, no matter the advice from their father, not to quarrel. The crafty neighbours took advantage of this and made them fight more and cheated them of money. Soon none of them had money with them.
One day the father called his sons and asked them to fetch a stick each. He then asked them to break it separately, which they did easily. Then he asked them to bring a stick each, again. This time the old man tied all the sticks together in a bunch and asked each one to try and break it, which they could not.
He then explained to them that it is the same in life. When each one is on their own, it is easy to cheat them and break them down. When they are together, others cannot get into their personal matters and cheat them. The sons understood the moral and from that day onward, decided not to quarrel, and lived happily.
This is a story, that has been passed down from generations.
