the old man is unable to see clearly and unable to see distant objects because he suffers from a defect called presbyopia. this eye effect occurs in old age people where they cannot see neither the distant object nor the near object . such kind of a defect can be rectified by wearing a by focal lens

He is suffering from presbyopia and to correct this he must use bifocal lens i.e., both convex and concave
