When placed in a highly concentrated solution, the onion peel cell will become flaccid. It means that since the concentration of solute is high in the solution (and hence water potential is low), movement of water takes place from the cell to the solution (through osmosis). As a result, the cytoplasm which was exerting pressure against the cell wall, begins to shrink (also known as plasmolysis). Therefore, as water leaves the cell, the cell begins to lose its turgidity and becomes flaccid.

when onion peel is placed in salt solution the partially permable membrane will move to salt solution and the onion peel will shrunk.this process is known as osmosis.
