Solution: Total marked price of the shirt and trouser, MP = ₹1000+3000 = ₹4000

First discount = ₹(10/100×4000)=₹400

Selling price after first discount

= ₹(4000-400)

= ₹3600

Second Discount

= ₹(20/100×3600)

= ₹720

Selling price of the second discount

= ₹(3600-720)

= ₹2880

Therefore, total discount

= ₹(400+720)

=₹1120

Thus, total discount percent on Puneet's purchase

= (1120/4000×100)%

= 28%

Hence, total amount that Puneet and the check out = ₹2880.
