Solution:
Since TSA of rectangular box = 8×5×2 + 6×5×2 + 8×6×2 = 236 cm^2

Surface area of lid = 8×6 = 48 cm^2

Therefore, Total surface area of the box
= 236 - 48
= 188 cm^2

vvijay385: Actually, TSA which I have calculated is outer surface area.
vvijay385: TSA shall be inner plus outer surface area. But to calculate inner surface area we need thickness of the box.

Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

Total surface area of the box = 188 cm^2

● Explanation -

# Given -

l = 8 cm

b = 6 cm

h = 5 cm

# Solution -

Total surface area of open box is -

TSA = lb + 2lh + 2bh

TSA = 8×6 + 2×8×5 + 2×6×5

TSA = 188 cm^2

Hence, Total surface area of open box without lid is 188 cm^2.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
