An open box is made of wood 3 cm thick. Its external length, breadth and height are 1.48
m, 1.16 m and 8.3 m. Find the cost of painting the inner surface of Rs 50 per sq. metre​

FOR AN OPEN BOX:

length=1.48 m=148 cm

breadth=1.16 m =116 cm

height =8.3 m=83 cm

inner length,l=148−(2×3)=142 cm

inner breadth,b=116−(2×3)=110 cm

inner height, h=83−3=80 cm, box is open.

area of inner surface=2(lb+bh+hl)−lb

=2(142×110+110×80+80×142)−[142×110]

=2(15620+8800+11360)(15620)

=71563−15620

=55940 cm sq  

=5.594 m  sq

cost of painting inner surface=5.594×50

=Rs.279.70
