Given : An open wooden box 12dm long, 8dm wide and 5dm high

To be painted externally

500 mL paint can cover 300 sq.dm surface

To Find : is 500 mL paint Sufficient

Solution:

open wooden box 12dm long, 8dm wide and 5dm high

Open from Top

Total External Surface area  = 12 x 8  + 2 ( 12 + 8) * 5

= 96 + 200

= 296   sq.dm

500 mL paint can cover 300 sq.dm surface,

300 > 296

Hence  500 mL paint  is sufficient enough to paint the box.
