To find : The attenuation of power in dB/km

solution : attenuation of power is given by, α = 10/L log₁₀(P₁/P₂)

where L is distance, P₁ is input power and P₂ is output power.

so, P₂ = 0.85P₁

L = 0.5 km

so, α = 10/0.5 log₁₀ (1/0.85) = 1.411

Therefore the attenuation of power in dB/km is 1.411
