The ore or compound gives CO2. This means it is a carbonate ore/compound. therefore calcenation is done to oxidise the as it is carbonate type.
EX:-
CaCO3 + HCl -----------> CaCl2 + H2O + CO2
during Calcenation,
CaCO3 -----heat------> CaO + CO2
