An ore on treatment with hydrochloric acid gives a smell like that of rotten eggs. What type of ore is this? How can it be concentrated? How can the metal be obtained from the concentrated ores.

The gas which gives a smell like that of rotten eggs is hydrogen sulphide.

This is a sulphide ore.

It can be concentrated by a process called froth flotation.

Firstly, the sulphide ore is roasted in presence of air which gives metal oxide and sulphur dioxide.
Secondly, the metal oxide is then reduced to pure metal.

Hope it helps.
Thank you.
