An organic compound "A" (C4H8O2) was hydrolyzed with dilute H2SO4 to give a carboxylic
acid "B" and an alcohol "C". Oxidation of "C" with chromic acid gives back "B". Con
dehydrogenation gives ethane (C2H4). Write the chemical equations of the reactions
involved.
(b) Give a chemical test to distinguish between following pair of compounds:
(i) Propanal and Propanone
(ii) Phenol and Benzoic acid.​
