A : Ethanol ( CH3CH2OH)

B: Ethanoic acid(CH3COOH)

When A and B react, they form ethyl ethanoate.

Hope it helps you

Answer:

A is Ethanol and B is Ethanoic acid.

Explanation:

  • The organic compound A is Ethyl aclcohol or Ethanol.
  • Ethanol when oxidized (heated) with KMNO4 (potassim permanganate) forms Ethanoic acid which is the B organic acid.
  • Structural formula of Ethyl alcohol is  C2H5OH and  that of Ethanoic acid is CH3COOH.
  • When Ethanoic acid reacts with ethanol in the presence of an acid, Ethyl Ethanoate (Ester) is formed along with water.
  • C2H5OH + CH3COOH ----------> CH3-COO-C2H5 + H2O.
