Compound A- C2H60 is ethanol

Compound B - CH3COOH is eathanoic acid

Compound C - CH3CH2CH3O is ester

a) The reaction is esterfication....when alcohol and acid reacts they form esters

b) chemical equation

C2H60+CH3COOH=CH3CH2CH3O+H2O

Eathanol + eathanoic acid=ester + water

c) when base (alkaline) is added to ester , it gives back eathanol and sodium salt of carboxylic acid

NaOH + CH3CH2CH3O=C2H60+CH3COONa

Sodium hyroxide + ester= eathanol+sodium acetate

d) Compound be (esters) are sweet smelling substances often used in perfumes

Answer:

2 CH₃COOH + 2 Na ⇒  2 CH₃COONa + H₂ ↑

      ( A )                                   ( B )

CH₃COOH + C₂H₅OH ⇒  CH₃COOC₂H₅ + H₂O

                        ( C )                 ( D )

CH₃COOC₂H₅ + NaOH  ⇒ C₂H₅OH + CH₃COONa

Therefore we identified

A - CH₃COOH

B - CH₃COONa

C - C₂H₅OH

D - CH₃COOC₂H₅
