An organic compound 'A' with molecular formula C2H6O is used as an antifreeze in cold countries. When this compound is heated with potassium permanganate, gives a compound 'B' which is a constituent of vinegar. When 'A' and 'B' are heated with concentrated sulphuric acid, a sweet smelling compound 'C' is formed .On adding NaOH to 'C' , it gives back the compound 'A' and another compound 'D' which is a sodium salt of compound 'B' .ldentify A,B,C & D. Write the equation involved in the above processes .

Wow! My favourite question
Here is the answer
C2H6O is ethanol
Equation is. C2H5OH + (O) ----(heated with alkaline potassium permanganate) CH3COOH + H2O
B is the ethanoic acid CH3COOH
CH2H5OH. +. CH3COOH ----- CH3COOC2H5 + H2O
CH3COOC2H5 +. NaOH ----- CH3COONa + C2H5OH
Hence C is CH3COOC2H5 and D is CH3COONa

when C2H5OH is heated pottasium permaganate it will liberateor give CH3COOH.When this both are heated we will get sweet smelling compound called ester(CH3COOOC2H5).On adding Naoh to it it will CH3COONa+C2H5OH.
