it is an unsaturated compound. because saturated compound generally gives clean flame

The organic compound is unsaturated
They are not good fuels and burn with yellow sooty flame which is smoky indicating incomplete combustion. This, unsaturated hydrocarbons produce a lot of unburnt carbon as percentage of carbon is high. This results in black sport deposit on metal plate.
