- => 50% oxygen by mass means 50 grams of oxygen in 100 g of solution and 12.5% hydrogen means 12.5 gram of hydrogen in 100 gram of solution.
- => 12.5+50=62.5 grams out of 100 g is hydrogen and oxygen what about compound, remaining 37.5 gram must be carbon.
- => So now we have three components i.e. C,H and O. now find fraction of hydrogen.
- => Mole fraction = moles of hydrogen/ total moles
- => 12.5/1+50/16+37.5/12/12.5/1
- => 0.66 i.e. 2/3
