The correct answer should be - Ethanal.

Aldehydes are organic compounds which test positive for the Tollen's reagent test. Also, the hydrogen group of an aldehyde reacts to give positive results in the triiodomethane (iodoform) reaction.

Ethanal (
CH₃CHO) is the one and only aldehyde that forms a pale yellow precipitate when it undergoes the triiodomethane (iodoform) reaction.

In Tollen's test,
2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine, also known as 2,4-DNPH or as 2,4-DNP is used as a reagent. This reagent identifies the carbonyl group that is present in aldehydes. Then the Tollen's reagent which is a solution made up of silver nitrate and ammonia is used to distinguish in between the aldehydes and the ketones. The aldehydes give a positive silver mirror test.
