An organic substance containing carbon,hydrogen and oxygen Gabe the percentage composition as c:40.687%, H:5.085%, o:54.228%, .The vapour density of the compound is 59.calculate the molecular formula of the compound.

I will tell u the steps to solve and calculate it urself as it will help u and I have to go.

first divide the given percentage of each element by their molar mass u will get answer in decimal write them in integers .

then divide that by any possible number to make it short . then put the number as subscript in front of elements u will get the empirical formula . now leave that formula and use vapour density.

use this formula

molecular mass =vapour density/2

molecular mass will be 118

now apply this formula

first calculate the weight of empirical formula u got .

then divide molecular formula and empirical formula u will get an integer. finally multiply that integer to empirical formula and u will get the molecular formula of the compound
