An Oscillatory motion is a type of periodic motion which means that is goes back to and fro but for periodic motion it changes after an interval of time. oscillatory motion moves to and fro quickly but the periodic motion has intervals of time before it changes the position again. So the difference is that oscillatory motion moves to and fro quickly but the periodic motion is tedious. The pendulum in the long clocks move side to side in a sort of fast motion and the minute hand in the clock moves only forwards in a circular motion, so a periodic motion is not always oscillatory.
