Hi there,

Given

~~~~~~
● Sulphur oxide: The atoms are S,O
● The percentage of S is 50%
● The percentage of O is 50%
● The atomic mass of S is 32
● The atomic mass of O is 16
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

♤ First find number of moles for each atom by dividing percentage of each atom over its atomic mass .

☆ n Of S = 50÷32=1.56

☆ n of O = 50÷ 16= 3.125

♤ Find atoms mole ratio by dividing over the lowest mole value which is

1. 56

☆ S ratio is 1

☆ O ratio is 2

The empirical formula is 《 SO2》
