Step-by-step explanation:

Given

An umbrella is made by stitching 10 triangular pieces of cloth each piece measuring 25 cm, 47 cm and 47 cm. How much cloth is required for this

We need to do this by using heron’s formula. We know that there are 10 triangles.

Area of triangle = √s(s – a)(s – b)(s – c), here s is the semi – perimeter and a, b, c are the sides of triangle.

A = 47 cm, b = 25 cm, c = 47 cm

Now s = a + b + c / 2

         = 47 + 25 + 47 / 2

       S = 119/2 = 59.5 cm

Area of triangle = √s(s – a)(s – b)(s – c)

                          = √59.5(59.5 – 47)(59.5 – 25)(59.5 – 47) cm^2

                          = √59.5 x 12.5 x 34.5 x 12.5

                        = 566.34

So Area of triangle is 566.34 sq cm

Area of one triangle is 566.34 sq cm

So area of 10 triangles will be 566.34 x 10 = 5663.41 sq cm  of cloth is required for this umbrella
