An umbrella is made by stitching 10 triangular pieces of cloth of two different colours, each piece measuring 20cm, 50cm and 50cm. how much cloth of each colour is required for the umbrella

Answer  :   Herons formula-

There are 10 triangles.

5 triangles of blue and 5 of grey.

area of each cloth= 5 * (area of 1 triangle)

area of triangle =  √s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)

semi peri = 50+20+50/2

= 60

area = √60(60-50)(60-20)(60-50)

=√60×10×40×10

area = 2×5×2 √2×5×3

=20√30 CM

area of triangle=5×20√30

                          =100√30 CM²

∵AREA OF 10 TRIANGLES=10×100√30=1000√30 CM³

∴THE AREA OF CLOTH REQUIRED=1000√30 CM³
