An unlit incense stick(agarbatti) gives smell only when we come close to it but onlighting the stick we get smell even far away from it, why ?

When we lit the incense stick or Agarbatti then the fragrant molecules are exposed in the air with the smoke that comes out of it.
When the molecules come in contact with air then air travel with them and they reach your nose easily and in the whole house.
But when it is in solid form, the molecules are tightly packed that limit the movement.
