CnH2n is the formula of unsaturated compound

Explanation:

Unsaturated hydrocarbons- The compounds having any double or triple bond are known as unsaturated hydrocarbons . It includes alkenes and alkynes having double and triple bond respectively . so they have lesser hydrogen than the former alkanes .

Saturated hydrocarbons- The compound have only single bond are known as saturated , it include alkanes .

We know the formula for saturation is Cn H2n + H2

and if we take an unsaturated compound have formula as CnH2n

we can make it saturated by adding 2H molecules .

ie.,  CnH2n + 2H  →  CnH2n+H2

For example - Ethylene have 1 degree of saturation

             CH2=CH2 +  2H → CH3- CH3
