GIVEN : Number of red balls = 10
Number of white balls = 8
Total number of balls in an urn = 10 + 8= 18
Total number of outcomes = 18
Let E = Event of selecting a white ball
Number of outcome favourable to E = 8
Probability (E) = Number of favourable outcomes / Total number of outcomes
P(E) = 8/18 = 4/9
Hence, the required probability of getting a white ball , P(E) = 4/9 .
