She travels the 2/3 of the total distance at 4 km/h. So the time taken in travelling this part of distance will be = 2/3 x divided by 4. ( time = distance/speed)
And now the remaining distance that is x/3 is travelled at 5 km/h. So the total time is taken in travelling this part of the distance = x/3 divided by 5.
As per the question, the total time in covering the entire distance is 1 hour and 24 mins. that is 7/5 hrs.
So let',s add both the separate times to obtain the total time.
(2x/3)/ 4 + (x/3)/5 = 7/5
On solving it further --
x/6 + x/ 15 = 7/5
If you solve this equation further , you will find the value of x to be 6 km which is your entire length of the journey travelled by Anita.
