In medieval india, many castes came into existence, it was divided on the basis of occupation. In modern India, the caste system was divided into General, ST, SC and OBC. It was believed that OBC were basically Barbers, Blacksmith, carpenter etc. They didn't get much importance. They were not able to enter public temples, drink water from wells etc. Even today, they are basically illiterate. This has caused poverty problems in front of them. But, our government is constantly trying to improve their condition.
