The leading figures like Elizabeth and Darcy are serious and some of the supporting characters like Jane, Bingley and Charlotte. But minor characters are there to provide the amusement and hearty laughter and on them the popularity of the Pride and Prejudice depends considerably. It should also be noted that these comic characters are not all comic in the same way, they are individualized and belongs to certain type.
