Deforestation is caused by natural disasters like landslides. Due to this fact, there is no forest trees left to hold the soil after humans have cut down all the trees.  

This is the main cause of the landslide. Due to heavy rain, the 'shear stress' on the 'soil particles' can increase and causes deforestation which leads to landslides.  

Now, there are no more trees left in forest to 'hold the soil' due to deforestation.  

As a result, the shear strength of the soil decreases and landslides occur.
