Analyse the impact of the French Revolution over Europe and other parts of the world.
Answer
The impact of the French revolution over Europe was:
• At the end of the Revolution, citizens were granted Right to Vote. The idea of liberty and equality was practised in everyday life.
• The censorship was removed.
• All the written materials and the cultural activities – books, newspapers and plays in the old regime were only published after the approval by the censors of the King.
• The Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen was made freedom of speech and expression as Natural rights.
• Freedom of Press led to the transfer of views, ideas and the news of events from one place to another.
The citizens of the country especially the members of the third estate (peasants, servants, lawyers, artisans, etc.) and the women achieved what they wished for after so much struggle. This not only made them attain Right to Vote but also inspired the people of the other country to fight for their rights. The idea of the individual rights and about the social power was begun to discuss in many parts of the world. Such thoughts led to the abolition of the feudal system. Many colonised countries tried to create a sovereign state by getting inspired by the French revolution. Example – two people inspired from the ideas of the French revolution were Tipu Sultan and Ram Mohan Roy.
