Analyse the major causes of poverty in India?

Major causes of poverty in INDIA are:-

i)Historical Reasons-

- drain of wealth to Britain during colonization.

- growth rate of Indian economy was  very low during the colonial government.

-traditional handicrafts and industries were ruined under the colonial rule.

  Our country has still not not overcome from the effects of these problems.

ii)Political reasons-

-government policies to eradicate poverty from India has not been able to meet its goals. they were either not able to reach the poor or proved to be useless due to corruption and mismanagement.

iii) Economic Reasons-

-unemployment prevailing all through the nation contributes a lot to the problem of poverty.

-uneven distribution of land left some groups of people landless which ultimately led to their poverty.

iv) Social Reasons-

-people belonging to backward classes, who face discrimination in the society are not able to enjoy the resources enjoyed by others, leading to their poverty.

-people of rural areas tend to spend a lot of money in every occasions,even by taking loan, which sometimes effects their economic health badly.

v) Geographic Reasons-

-people living on geographically isolated places, like the tribes, face poverty in a large scale as no govt. policy is able to reach them, nor are they able to take benefit of any govt. or social facilities.

vi) Demographic Reasons-

-rise in population leads to decline in opportunities, but at the same it asks for more resources and this ultimately leads to poverty.
