Equitable does not mean equal distribution. It refers to the distribution which is fair and honest.
The distribution of wealth is the comparison of wealth amongest various members in a given society. This measurement specifically looks at the economic distribution of ownership in a society and not its income. Essentially this is the money that you have left over after all your bills are paid.
Inequitable distribution of wealth bothers us. We find it obnoxious that a few wealthy individuals own more that what half the population does.
