Political parties which lose in the elections play the role of the opposition party. In a democracy, the opposition party plays the following role:It criticises the policies of the government for its failures or unjust laws. By doing so, it brings to light the flaws of the government. It mobilises opposition against the government if the latter misuse or abuse its power. It keeps close vigil on the bills and expenditure of the government.
