The ware between Maratha and British happened when English people started interfering the domestic matters of the Maratha with the motive to take control over them.

Third Anglo-Maratha War:

After that, they fought two more wars (1803 and 1817), but the British got strong by that time, and they limited Maratha and Peshwa to the small kingdom Satara. The Maratha lost the war badly and it was the end of their power.
