The diseases could have been managed if the government had conducted a study on “long-term impact of the gas”.  But it was not done. Some private organisations initiated the studies and had found that there “high incidence of lung, eye diseases” but all were rejected by the government

There were changes made in “Indian Factories Act” but the fact that really hurts is

1) There is no protection to the workers force.

2) There were increase in hospitals by the State Government but there were no trained nurses and doctors

3) There are still no concrete solutions given to the families of the dead.  The compensation is still being kept pending for one reason or the other.

4) Initially “intravenous injections of sodium thiosulphate”, an antidote for cyanide poisoning was given to the affected.  Even this was stopped by the UCC and its lawyers.

5) Still now no solution has been found.  This was the statement of “Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in Delhi” in 2014 meet.

Answer:

In March 1985, the Indian government enacted the Bhopal Gas Leak Disaster Act as a way of ensuring that claims arising from the accident would be dealt with speedily and equitably. The Act made the government the sole representative of the victims in legal proceedings both within and outside India.
