India was effected by this event culturally because of the losses and also because of the feelings they then had against Britain. They have errected a memorial at the Jallianwala Bagh Gardens that commemorates all those that fell that day. The locals and those in many of the surrounding provinces still honour them every year when the Vaisakhi festival comes around. Economically, India was hurt for that time. After the massacre people went on strikes demanding higher pays while protesting freedom from Britain at the same time. This led to an almost country-wide decrease in the economy.
