Answer:

Rates of smoking by men and women

The line graph shows the pattern of growth and decline of smoking cases by men and women from 1960 to 2000. On average, the smoking rate of men has declined. In contrast to that, the smoking rate of women has increased consequently.

In 1960, the smoking rate of men was at its peak at 600 per 1000 people whereas it was only 100 for women. In the consequent years, there was a decline in the smoking rate for men. In 1965, it was around 570 and got reduced to around 550 in 1970. In 1975, it had seen a decline of 50 to become 500. In the following years 1980, 1985, and 1990, the rate of smoking was around 470, 400, and 380 respectively. In 1995, it experienced a remarkable decline from 380 to 280. In 2000, the rate of smoking was 250 per 1000 people.

In contradiction to the case of men, there was an increase in the cases of smoking for women. The first uprising started in 1965 with approximately 190 people per 1000. It maintained its level in the year 1970. However, it skyrocketed in the year 1975 and reached its peak at 310. There was no noticeable difference in 1980 as it was roughly 300. From the year 1990, it began to slip off gradually. In 1990, it was around 290 and it was 210 and 200 in the years 1995 and 2000 respectively.

In a nutshell, we can say that the rate of smoking by women will continue to rise gradually and the rate of smoking by men will fall off slightly.

Hope it Helps!
