Students were in forefront in the ant-imperial struggle in Vietnam. The French imperialist tried to use education as a tool of colonial domination but the students of Vietnam used it as a weapon against the imperial rule.

The students resisted the colonial policies at every front. They opposed the the curriculum framed by French which was colonial in nature. They protested the discrimination and expulsion of a student at Saigon Native Girls School. It lead to open protest by the people which forced government to take the student back.

The students found various political parties like Party of Young Annan which fought against the imperial policies. They also highlighted oppressive colonial policies and plight of people in newspapers and also started their own journal called Annanese Student.

The students also launched Go East Movement, a national movement to drove French out of Vietnam by going to eastern countries like Japan and seeking their help for the same.
